Hannah Yeoh, the Youth and Sports Minister, plans to implement a Safe Sport Code to create a secure environment for all those involved in sports rather than introducing a bill in Parliament. Yeoh stated that the legislative process would take too long, and the code could be put in place as soon as March. The minister believes that there are already sufficient laws, such as the Penal Code and the Employment Act, and the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act, to address any instances of sexual harassment, and she wants to avoid confusing stakeholders. The draft of the Safe Sport Act was supposed to be ready by the end of 2022, but Yeoh has decided to prioritize the implementation of the Safe Sport Code.
