World Archery jumped 12 places to rank as the seventh most popular sport on key social media platforms in 2021, according to the #SportonSocial report published this week by creative consultancy Redtorch.
The digital league table has been published annually since 2017 and uses data that is publicly available.
In the overall ranking, World Archery was listed behind only the federations responsible for badminton, volleyball, football, athletics, basketball and cycling.
Archery’s digital presence achieved record numbers during the Olympic year, accruing more than 810 million impressions and 360 million video views in 2021.
World Archery’s Facebook page recently surpassed one million followers, and the second-best federation on the platform in the #SportonSocial report, having achieved the highest growth rate of any sport during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Archery was rated fourth best on both Twitter and YouTube in #SportonSocial.
Fifteen percent of all Olympic sports content on YouTube that topped one million views in 2021 featured archery.
World Archery’s digital and linear broadcast campaign for the 2022 Hyundai Archery World Cup launched today alongside the official start of the outdoor season.
