Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has challenged athletes to achieve the country’s first Olympic gold medal at the 2024 Paris Games. He believes that with the cooperation of the Youth and Sports Ministry, sports organizations, and athletes, it is possible to attain this goal.
“I want us to secure at least one gold medal at the upcoming Olympic Games,” he stated.
Prime Minister issued the challenge to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh, and Olympic Council of Malaysia President, Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria, at the 2021 National Sports Awards ceremony.
He emphasized the importance of athletes giving their best effort and working hard in training. The Prime Minister stated that the athletes should leave the results to God.
Tan Sri Mohamad Norza chairs the 2024 Paris Gold Program Monitoring Committee established to monitor the program’s implementation and effectiveness. The 2024 Paris Gold Program is part of the National Sports Council’s Podium Program which includes athletes capable of qualifying and those with potential to win gold medals.
